Challenges for Employees

Many workers fear losing their jobs. This insecurity leads them to work even when sick or to push beyond their limits. As a result, early signs of health issues—both physical and mental—can be overlooked. Mental health-related absences, in particular, tend to last longer and increase with age.

Inflation Hits Women Hardest

Rising living costs affect everyone, but women are disproportionately impacted. They still earn less than men and face additional burdens such as childcare, caring for relatives, and difficult working conditions in female-dominated industries.

Support from Works Councils

As works council representatives, we deal with a variety of concerns daily. We often recognize problems early and must find ways to best support our colleagues.

However, not all issues can be resolved internally, making external support services essential.

This brochure serves as a helpful guide for works council representatives by providing an overview of key psychosocial support resources.

At the same time, we must not forget to take care of ourselves. Maintaining awareness of our own limits and responsibilities is crucial—because no one can or should have to handle everything alone.
